Episode 20. In today's interview, "How Accountants Handle Change: Barbara Weltman."

Barbara Weltman is the founder of Big Ideas for Small Business, Inc., which publishes Idea of the Day® and the e-newsletter Big Ideas for Small Business®. Based in Vero Beach, Florida, she is an attorney, a trusted professional advocate for small businesses and entrepreneurs, and a prolific author of important books such as J.K. She is also a guest blogger for several sites and creates continuing education programs for accountants and attorneys.

Key questions we ask Barbara about how accountants can better handle change:

1. What are some of the big changes you see clients facing now?

(inflation, supply chain disruptions, remote workforce, world events, continuing pandemic issues)

2. How can accountants help their own clients handle change?

(how can they strategize with business owners and help them 'run the numbers'” for proposed actions?)

3. Specifically, how can accountants help clients with their inventory issues?

(how to account for inventory, reordering, disposing of unsold inventory)

4. What changes are accountants experiencing themselves in their practices?

(greater demand for their services, continuing complexity of tax/accounting rules they have to master, how to handle their own rising costs of doing business)

5. How can accountants stay up-to-date with changes in their profession?

(continuing education, following influencers, staying involved with accounting groups and communities)
